CONCEPT AND THE ECONOMICAL JUSTIFICATION OF ESTABLISHMENT OF LITHUANIAN TOURISM INFORMATION CENTERS ABROAD

Describtion:

Lithuanian tourism information center (further TIC) abroad is the main Lithuanian tourism unit which collects, processes and disseminates information, which directly and inderectly is related with tourism activities at national and international levels. The establishment of TIC in the 19 article of the Law of Tourism of the Republic of Lithuania (Žin., 1998, Nr. 32-852, 2002 Nr. 123-5507, 2003, 114-5119) is delegated to the State Department of Tourism (further STD).

According to the Terms of Reference, the assessment of the activities of Lithuanian tourism information centres was prepared, the tasks and objectives of tourism information centres were determined. The inquiries of incoming tourism organisers and attaches of Lithuanian Ministry of Economy were conducted with the objective to research Lithuanian international tourism markets.

Study recommends to establish six new tourism information centers in these countries where supposed economical benefit of Lithuanian information centers abroad is ultimate.
