Describtion:

Considering the necessity of successful integration into Pan-European transport network, the first priority of the National Single Programming Document, harmonised with the European Commission, is social and economic development, and the first measure for implementing this objective is “Improvement of Accessibility and Service Quality of Transport Infrastructure”. The implementation of this measure will include the rehabilitation and modernisation of Lithuanian railway lines, the main priority thereof being the modernisation of infrastructure and superstructure of the transeuropean transport Corridors IX and I, and lines, linking the regions of the country with those international corridors.

The modernisation on Corridor IX section Kaišiadorys – Radviliškis – Šiauliai – Klaipėda and Corridor I, section Šiauliai – Joniškis – State Border will be proposed to be financed from the EU Cohesion Fund, therefore for submitting the application for the financing from this fund, it will be necessary to justify the technical, economical, financial, social and environmental feasibility of the project as well as the need for its implementation. Therefore it is essential to make a thorough project analysis.
